Reconstruction of theSouth Beirut Suburb “WAAD” Between Reality & Desired

Abstract

This paper deals with the project of the reconstruction of Beirut's southern suburb "Waad" after the war in July 2006. The paper reviews the destruction of infrastructure and housing units in the area. It also discusses the genuineness of the project “WAAD”, through the considerations that occurred and it also clarifies the underlying principles that accompanied the reconstruction process, the feedbacks, through a SWOT analysis based on a questionnaire that simulates the vision between reality and desire.
