Open Access Policy

Open Access Statement

JPD provides immediate open access to its published content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge and enhances the visibility, accessibility, and impact of scholarly work.

The journal does not apply subscription barriers to its published articles. All published articles are accessible through the journal’s official website and may be read and downloaded without charge.

JPD applies a full open access model: no embargo period is imposed, and no fees are charged to readers at any stage. A publication fee is requested from authors only after final acceptance, as set out in the journal’s Article Processing Charges (APC) and Publication Fees Policy (Gold Open Access).

Articles published in JPD are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, share, and adapt the published work, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the original source is properly cited, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made to the work are indicated.

Author Rights

Authors retain responsibility for the content of their published work. Publication in JPD does not transfer copyright ownership to the journal. Authors are allowed to use, share, distribute, archive, and reuse their published articles in accordance with the journal’s copyright and licensing policy and the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in institutional repositories, academic profiles, personal websites, and scholarly databases, provided that the article is properly cited and linked to the official publication page on the JPD website.

Reader Rights

Readers are allowed to access, read, download, copy, print, search, share, and link to the full text of published articles without requesting prior permission from the journal or the publisher, provided that proper attribution is given to the author(s) and to the Journal of Planner and Development.

Reuse and Attribution

Any reuse, distribution, translation, adaptation, or reproduction of JPD articles must include appropriate attribution. Proper attribution should include the author name(s), article title, journal title, year of publication, volume and issue number where available, DOI where available, and a link to the original article.

Users must not present adapted or reused material in a way that misrepresents the original work, the authors, or the journal.

Article Processing Charges and Open Access

JPD applies article processing or publication fees according to its published Article Processing Charges (APC) and Publication Fees Policy. These fees support editorial processing, online publication, journal platform maintenance, archiving, and open access dissemination.

Publication fees are requested only after final acceptance of the manuscript. Payment of publication fees does not influence editorial screening, peer review, editorial decisions, reviewer recommendations, or acceptance outcomes.

To ensure that open access content remains permanently available, JPD maintains long-term access to its published articles and issue archives through the journal platform and the University of Baghdad Digital Repository, as described in the journal’s Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy.
