Author Guidelines

 

Authors must prepare their manuscripts according to the Journal of Planner and Development (JPD) requirements. Before submission, authors should review the Author Guidelines, use the official JPD Manuscript Template, and download the required files from Author Forms and Templates. Submissions must fit the journal’s scope, follow the required structure and citation style, include English and Arabic metadata, and comply with ethical, authorship, plagiarism, funding, data availability, and AI disclosure requirements.

Submission Preparation Checklist

 

All submissions must meet the following requirements before they can be considered by the Journal of Planner and Development (JPD).

  1. The manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal. If any related version exists, an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor.
  2. The manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope as described on the Aims and Scope page.
  3. The submission is either an Original Research Article or a Review Article. Other manuscript types, including descriptive reports, consultancy documents, opinion papers, project summaries, or purely technical papers without planning relevance, are not submitted for peer review.
  4. The manuscript has been prepared according to the Author Guidelines and follows the official JPD Manuscript Template.
  5. The required author forms have been completed where applicable, including the Cover Letter Template, Author Declaration Form, Copyright and License Agreement, and AI Use Declaration Form.
  6. The submission file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Supplementary files may be uploaded separately where necessary.
  7. The manuscript includes complete bibliographic metadata in both English and Arabic, including the title, abstract, keywords, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author email.
  8. The abstract does not exceed 250 words, and the manuscript provides 4 to 8 keywords in English and 4 to 8 keywords in Arabic.
  9. All tables, figures, maps, diagrams, and illustrations are numbered, cited in the text, placed close to their first citation, and include appropriate titles, captions, legends, scale, north arrow, data source, or permissions where applicable.
  10. The references follow the journal’s required citation style, and DOI links or URLs have been provided where available.
  11. The manuscript includes all required declarations, including conflict of interest, funding statement, data availability statement, ethics approval where applicable, and disclosure of any use of generative artificial intelligence tools.
  12. The authors confirm that all sources are properly cited and that the manuscript does not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, improper paraphrasing, uncited copied material, or unethical reuse of text, data, tables, maps, figures, or images.
  13. All authors have contributed to the manuscript, approved the submitted version, and agreed to be accountable for the integrity of the work.
  14. The manuscript has been carefully checked for language quality, academic structure, formatting, and completeness before submission.

For published articles, author names, affiliations, email addresses where applicable, ORCID identifiers, article metadata, abstracts, keywords, references, and other publication-related information may be displayed publicly on the journal website, in published issue archives, and in indexing, archiving, and repository services for scholarly communication and citation purposes.

Journal Notifications

The journal may use registered users’ email addresses to send notifications related to submissions, editorial decisions, review requests, published issues, announcements, or other journal-related communications. Users may manage their account information and notification preferences through the journal system by logging in to their account.
