Before Submission

Interested in submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Planner and Development (JPD)? Before starting the submission process, authors are strongly advised to review the About the Journal page to ensure that the manuscript fits the journal’s aims, scope, and section policies. Authors should also carefully read the Author Guidelines and prepare their manuscript according to the official JPD manuscript template.

Accepted Manuscript Types

JPD accepts only Original Research Articles and Review Articles. Submitted manuscripts must present a clear scholarly contribution to urban and regional planning, urban design, sustainable development, environmental planning, spatial analysis, geoinformatics, urban systems, or socio-spatial development. Descriptive reports, consultancy documents, opinion papers, project summaries, technical software demonstrations, or manuscripts without a clear planning contribution are not considered for peer review.

Required Metadata and Declarations

Before submission, authors must ensure that the manuscript includes the required bilingual metadata, including the title, abstract, keywords, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author email in both English and Arabic. Manuscripts must also include the required declarations related to conflict of interest, funding, data availability, ethics approval where applicable, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools.

Editorial Screening and Peer Review

All manuscripts are subject to initial editorial screening, similarity checking, and double-blind peer review. Submissions that do not comply with the journal’s scope, manuscript template, ethical requirements, formatting rules, or academic standards may be returned to the authors before peer review.

Registration and Login

Authors need to register with the journal before submitting a manuscript. If already registered, authors can simply log in and begin the online submission process through the journal system.
